Box Score Buffalo, NY- A tough start for the women's volleyball team against AMCC leader Penn State Behrend. The visiting Lions steamrolled the Spartans 25-5.
The second set was far better.
D'Youville took a lead at 13-10 and was in position to take the second set up 19-17. The Lions closed the set with an 8-1 run to win 25-20. The Spartans had 9 kills in game two, their best of the three games.
The third game went to Penn State Behrend 25-12.
"I think the second set showed us at our best, the first at our worst," commented Head coach John Hutton.
Lara Svensson (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) had a team-high 11 digs. Kaylee Stewart (Wilson, NY/Wilson) and Alyssa Dueringer (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) led the Spartans with four kills apiece.
The Spartans return to AMCC play with a pair of neutral court matches October 19 at Hilbert College. The Spartans will play Penn State Altoona at 2:00 p.m. and Pitt-Greensburg at 4:00 p.m.
