Buffalo, NY-Matt Loos (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) smacked a match-high 11 kills and Jay Senozetnik (Eden, NY/Eden)dished a match-high 33 assists as D'Youville defeated Hilbert 3-0 (25-15, 26-24, 25-18) in a United Volleyball Conference match at the College Center Gym.

The Spartans jumped out to 19-8 lead to open the set en route to a comfortable 25-15 finish. Loos led the Spartans with 7 kills, Chris Busha (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) with 6 kills, and Steve Goedtel (Eden, NY/Eden) snared 6 digs. D'Youville hit .333 and had 15 kills to Hilbert's 6.

D'Youville held off a set point in the second, closing Hilbert out with 3-straight points to win 26-24. The Spartans closed the match with a 25-18 win in the third set. The Spartans held Hilbert to just 4 kills and a -.125 hitting percentage in the last game.  

D'Youville improves to 4-1, 1-0 UVC. Hilbert is 2-3, 0-1 UVC.

The two teams meet again on Super Sunday (Feb. 3) in a tri-match at Hilbert with Penn State Altoona. Hilbert plays Penn State Altoona at 10 am, D'Youville and Altoona at noon, and D;Youville versus Hilbert at 2 p.m.
