Erie, PA-After yielding two runs in the bottom of the fifth, a sixth inning D'Youville rally came up short and the Spartans were edged 2-1 by second-seed Penn State Altoona.

Abby Campbell scored the Spartan's only run and was one of three Spartans to get a hit. Hannah Norton struck out three in another complete game effort.

D'Youville (17-13) will continue play in the double-elimination AMCC Tournament Saturday (May 5) at 9:00 a.m.

In the opening game of the day, Abby Campbell (Buffalo, NY/Mount Mercy) smacked an RBI double in the first inning, one of her three hits in the game, and scored on an error later in that frame. That was the difference in the Spartan's 2-1 over Pitt-Bradford in the first round of the AMCC Softball Tournament.

Pitcher Hannah Norton (Wyoming, NY/Pavilion) struck out five and only walked one to get the complete-game win.
