Box Score Fredonia, NY-Fredonia State ran out to a 50-25 halftime lead and defeated D'Youville 91-69 but the Spartans had a strong second-half showing and provided a twenty-minute glimpse of what the program's new style of play will yield.
D'Youville was the more aggressive team in the second frame bettering the hosts by a score of 44-41. In the game, D'Youville's pressure forced 23 turnovers and the team recorded season-high 14 steals, led by Andrew Reinhardt (Ridgeway, ONT/Ridgeway-Crystal Beach) with a game high 5 thefts.
The Spartans also grabbed a season-high 50 rebounds and outboarded an opponent for the first time this season (50-49). Julian Reed (Cheektowaga, NY/Union-Endicott) had a team-high 7 rebounds.
The top Spartan scorer was Erik Prophet (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) with 12 points and it is the third-straight double-digit game for the sophomore guard. Jon Gemerek (Cheektowaga, NY/Depew) dropped in 10 points for his third-straight game double-figures and Marcus Clarke (Olean, NY/Archbishop Walsh) chipped in 10 points for D'Youville.
The Spartans will play their first home contest of the season November 24 versus Geneseo State. Tip-off in the College Center Gym will be at 3:00 p.m.
