Box Score Buffalo, NY-The D'Youville College women's volleyball team did something tonight they haven't done since 2009, win a conference match.
The Spartans swept visiting Pitt-Bradford 3-0 (25-15, 30-28, 26-24) to end the program's 21-match losing streak in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play.
The last win against an AMCC opponent came October 31, 2009 (3-1 win versus Mount Aloysius).
Luciana Payne (Buffalo, NY/Mount St. Mary Academy) had a match-high 16 kills. Alyssa Dueringer (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) had a career-high nine kills and six service aces. Natalie Rieman (West Seneca, NY/Immaculata Academy) paced the offense with 27 assists and 11 digs. Lara Svensson (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) snared a match-high 18 digs followed by Alicia Porack (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) with 17 digs and Kayla Deth (Cheektowaga, NY/Holy Angels) with 14 digs.
"It's a great step forward for our team," said Head coach John Hutton. "Our players did a great job executing what was asked of them tonight."
Next for D'Youville (4-12, 1-2 AMCC) is the Fredonia State Tournament October 5-6.
