Wexford, PA (10/17/10)-Day two of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference women's tennis championship saw the Spartans go to the finals in four singles flights and in first doubles moving the team from the fifth-place the team started the day at to a tie for second-place.
The top seeded doubles team of Samantha Rowen (East Amherst, NY/WilliamsvilleEast) and Melissa Kanalley (Tonawanda, NY/Cardinal O'Hara) won their second-round match 8-5 over the team of Victoria Shields and Doria Shima of La Roche College. Rowen and Kanalley lost the first-doubles final to second-seeded Arica Christman and Stephanie Cattron of Penn State Behrend 8-1. It was a theme that would go on throughout the dat for D'Youville.
In first singles Samantha Rowen won her second –round match over Stephanie Chaffee of Pitt-Greensburg and was defeated in the final 6-0, 6-3 by Arica Christman of Penn State Behrend.
In second singles Melissa Kanalley won her second-round match 6-2, 6-3 over Stephanie Krall of Pitt-bradford and was stopped in the final 6-1, 6-2 by Penn State Behrend's Stephanie Cattron.
Jessica Lampka (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) won her second-round match in third singles 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 over Sarah Fowkes of Pitt-Bradford. Lampka then lost the final 6-4, 6-1 to Behrend's Hillary Lasher.
In sixth singles Angela Poblocki (Akron, NY/Akron) dropped the first set 3-6 to Melanie Ward of La Roche then won the next two 6-3, 6-3. Poblocki was stopped in the final 6-4, 6-1 by Jade Buhite of Penn State Behrend.
D'Youville complets their second-season of competition with a second-place regular season finish (7-1 AMCC, 8-1 overall) and a second-place finish in their first AMCC championship appearance
