Josh Hammer is in his second season as the graduate assistant for the D'Youville men's soccer team, joining Brendan Murphy's staff in 2019 after a historic playing career for the program.
Hammer finished his career as one of the most decorated players in program history following a four-year career. Hammer started all of his 65 career games played and recorded seven goals, two assists, 16 points, and two game winning goals from the center-back position. With his presence in the back, D'Youville made the AMCC playoffs in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history as well.
As a senior in 2018, Hammer was tied for second in goals and tied for third in points on the team, being named a Second Team All-AMCC selection and D'Youville's Co-Male Athlete of the Year.
During his junior season, Hammer scored a career-high three goals, while, as a sophomore and freshman, he scored a goal in each campaign. Hammer was named a Third Team All-AMCC selection in each of his first three seasons and was his team's MVP in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Hammer was the first and youngest player in program history to earn an all-conference selection (freshman season), to be named team captain (sophomore through senior season), and the only player to make an all-conference team every year of his career.
A product of Sweet Home High School, Hammer earned All-Western New York honorable mention and All-ECIC honors during his scholastic career. The Amherst, N.Y., native received his bachelor's degree in exercise and sports studies from D'Youville in 2019.
