Matt Caggiano enters his second season as a graduate assistant with the D'Youville University men's basketball program. In his role, he oversees player development through individual workouts and film sessions while assisting with opponent scouting, including written scouting reports, video breakdowns, and game preparation. Caggiano also plays an integral role in recruiting, evaluating high school, junior college, and transfer portal prospects, while managing basketball operations such as scheduling, recruiting visits, equipment inventory, and team logistics.
Prior to joining the coaching staff, Caggiano enjoyed an accomplished playing career at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he finished with 963 career points and 305 assists, ranking among the program's all-time leaders in both categories. During his senior season, he averaged 5.5 assists per game, ranking 24th nationally, earned USBWA Rochester Area First Team honors, and helped lead RIT to its best conference and postseason finish in 15 years. In addition to his collegiate experience, Caggiano has served as an assistant coach with the Rochester City Rocks EYCL program, specializing in guard development, and worked as an athletic performance coach at FitStrength Performance, designing strength and conditioning programs for athletes across multiple sports.
