Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. — D'Youville battled Bentley throughout the afternoon Friday at Dobson Field before falling to the Falcons, 2-0. The Saints kept Bentley off the scoreboard through a competitive first half, but the Falcons found the back of the net twice after halftime to secure the victory.
D'Youville's defense held strong during an active first half from Bentley, which recorded 10 attacking actions and applied consistent pressure in the Saints' defensive third. From 14:11 to 25:22, Bentley generated seven shots and three corner kicks, but D'Youville goalkeeper Amanda Kit turned away each opportunity to keep the match scoreless. Kit finished the first half with six saves.
The Saints created opportunities of their own before the break, with Hannah Fleming and Gabrielle Giesing each putting shots on goal as D'Youville looked to break through. Neither team was able to find the back of the net, sending the match into halftime tied at 0-0.
Bentley eventually broke the deadlock in the 65th minute when Campbell Miller scored at 64:33, with Cami Ayandele and Rose Frisoli providing the assists. Kit continued to keep the Saints within striking distance, recording three saves during a 1:20 stretch immediately following Bentley's opening goal.
The Falcons added an insurance goal in the 74th minute when Abi Hennessey scored at 73:47 to extend Bentley's lead to 2-0. D'Youville continued to battle late in the match, with Ella Hurrle recording the Saints' lone shot on goal of the second half in the 86th minute.
Kit finished the match with 12 saves as the Saints' defensive effort kept the contest close for much of the afternoon. Bentley ultimately held on for the 2-0 victory.
