Saints Fall to Mercy on the Road

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. — D'Youville fell to Mercy 3-0 on Saturday at Mercy Field, as the Saints faced consistent offensive pressure throughout the contest. D'Youville finished with four shots, including one on goal, while goalkeeper Alegra Black recorded nine saves against a Mercy attack that produced 21 shots and 12 shots on goal.

Mercy controlled much of the first half, generating multiple scoring opportunities through shots and corner kicks. Despite the sustained pressure, D'Youville's defense worked to keep the match within reach, with Black making four saves before halftime. Mercy broke through at 19:34 when Astrid Borglund found the back of the net off an assist from Ella Gallino to give the home side a 1-0 advantage.

The Saints looked for an equalizer before the break, with Sophia Hobson creating one of D'Youville's best opportunities late in the half. Hobson's attempt struck the woodwork at 43:09, narrowly missing the chance to even the score. D'Youville entered halftime trailing by just one goal despite Mercy's offensive advantage.

The Saints continued to face pressure after the restart as Mercy looked to extend its lead. Black remained active in goal, making five additional saves in the second half to bring her total to nine for the match. Mercy eventually doubled its advantage at 62:49 before adding another goal at 82:38 to secure the 3-0 victory.

D'Youville continued to look for an opportunity late in the match, with Hannah Fleming recording a shot attempt in the 90th minute. However, the Saints were unable to find the back of the net as Mercy held on for the shutout.

With the result, D'Youville moved to 5-6-2 overall and 3-3-0 in conference play. Mercy improved to 8-3-4 overall and 4-1-0 in conference action.
