MANCHESTER, N.H. — D'Youville fell to Southern N.H. 6-0 on Monday in the second night of a road back-to-back. The Saints were held to four shots without a shot on goal, while Sarah Reifsnyder and Hallie Villavechia combined for 12 saves.
Reifsnyder started in goal and made six saves over the first 30 minutes, while Villavechia recorded six saves in the second half. Breanna Puccia added a defensive save for the Saints.
D'Youville faced heavy pressure throughout the opening quarter, but Reifsnyder made three saves and Puccia recorded a defensive save to keep the game scoreless early. Southern N.H. broke through twice in the final four minutes of the quarter to take a 2-0 lead. Jimena Loustalot had D'Youville's lone shot of the quarter, but the attempt was blocked.
Southern N.H. added two goals in the second quarter to extend its lead to 4-0. Reifsnyder made three additional saves, while D'Youville created a late opportunity following a penalty corner from Madisyn Grawl. Caroline Pitarra's ensuing shot was blocked before halftime.
Villavechia kept Southern N.H. off the scoreboard in the third quarter, making three saves as the Saints entered the final quarter trailing 4-0. D'Youville generated two shots during the period, with Isabella Fazio sending one wide and Rowynn Pickering having another blocked.
Southern N.H. scored twice in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter to complete the scoring. Villavechia made three saves in the period, including two during the same sequence at 47:20, as the Saints finished with a 6-0 loss.
Southern N.H. finished with 35 shots, including 19 on goal. D'Youville recorded four shots, while its defense finished with 12 goalkeeper saves and one defensive save.
D'Youville returns home Saturday, Oct. 3, to open conference play against Mercy. The Saints and Mavericks are scheduled to meet at 11 a.m at Dobson Field.
