D'Youville Names John Scaglione Assistant Athletic Director of Operations

BUFFALO, N.Y. – D'Youville University Director of Athletics and Planning Ona Halladay has announced the hiring of John Scaglione as the Saints' new Assistant Athletic Director of Operations.

Halladay said, "I am thrilled to welcome John to the Saints family. He brings extensive experience in athletics operations, along with the professionalism, composure and leadership that are essential to this role. John understands that exceptional operations are the foundation of a first-class student-athlete experience. As D'Youville Athletics continues to grow, he will play an instrumental role in supporting that growth and the championship experience we strive to provide our student-athletes."

Scaglione brings extensive experience in collegiate athletics operations, event management, staff supervision and marketing to D'Youville. He most recently served as a Coordinator of Promotional and Branded Merchandise with Adpro Sports/Legends, where he worked alongside sales and design teams to develop client pitches, product decks and branded merchandise while coordinating purchasing and timelines.

Prior to that role, Scaglione served as a Graduate Assistant at Canisius College, following an Operations Internship with the college's Athletic Facilities Department. During his time at Canisius, he oversaw 45 employees across three athletic facilities, assisted with hiring and onboarding, and helped create an employee handbook for Palisano Fitness Center operations. He also played a key role in tournament planning and live event logistics, helping oversee approximately 100 events annually while working closely with media, visiting teams, officials, technology staff and college personnel to ensure events were fully prepared.

A Buffalo native, Scaglione earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and a Master and Leadership Certificate from Canisius College in 2022. He previously earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management and Coaching from SUNY Brockport in 2019. He also holds certifications in Google Ads Search, Search Marketing and SEO Optimization, as well as New York State coaching certifications in Theories & Techniques of Coaching and Philosophy, Principles & Organization of Athletics.

"I'm really excited to start this new chapter as the Assistant Athletic Director of Operations," said Scaglione. "I am looking forward to becoming a part of the D'Youville community and doing whatever I can to support our student-athletes and athletic programs."

In his role with D'Youville Athletics, Scaglione will support the department's day-to-day operations and event management while helping provide a high-quality experience for D'Youville student-athletes, coaches, staff and visiting teams.
