SPARKILL, N.Y. — D'Youville (20-19) fell to Mercy University (25-16) in an 8–2 defeat at Spartan Field. Despite the loss, D'Youville managed a home run and a double among its seven hits.
In the third inning,
Frankie Morris (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster) provided a spark for D'Youville by hitting a home run to left center, cutting into Mercy's lead. The inning concluded with D'Youville trailing 6–1.
D'Youville added another run in the fourth inning.
Jorja Sandilands (Brooklin, Ontario / Brooklin) walked and advanced to second on
Mikayla Hussar's (West Seneca, N.Y. / West Seneca West) single.
Gabby Moreno (San Diego, Calif. / Rancho Buena Vista) then doubled to left center, bringing Sandilands home. The inning ended with the Mavericks leading 7–2.
The game concluded after the seventh inning, with the final score standing at Mercy 8, D'Youville 2.
Summer Clark (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville East) pitched a complete game, throwing 6 innings against the Mavericks. She allowed 11 hits and 6 earned runs while striking out 5 batters. Despite her efforts, Clark recorded the loss in the matchup, bringing her season record to 15-7.
Frankie Morris led the offense with three hits, including a home run, and contributed one RBI and one stolen base.
Gabby Moreno added a double, driving in one run with her hit.
