Saints Hit Three Homers in 12-2 Rout of CSI

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – D'Youville used a three-home run performance and a strong start on the mound from Ty Graczyk to earn a 12-2 victory over the College of Staten Island on Sunday afternoon at Sal Maglie Stadium.

The Saints tallied 13-hits to secure the four-game sweep of CSI, improving to 14-21 overall and 9-9 in conference play.

Billy Morris, Colby Wilson, and Garett Wilson each recorded three hits to lead the D'Youville offense. Morris went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored, and two RBIs. Colby Wilson also finished 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, scoring three times and driving in two. Garett Wilson added a three-hit performance that included a two-run home run and four RBIs.

D'Youville opened the scoring in the first inning. Morris led off the game with a single before Colby Wilson followed with a two-run home run, his ECC-leading tenth of the season, to give the Saints an early 2-0 lead.

The Saints added to the advantage in the third frame. Morris led off with a solo home run, his third on the season. Colby Wilson followed it up with a double, setting up his brother Garett Wilson to launch a monster two-run home run over the left field fence and extend the lead to 5-1.

D'Youville broke the game open in the fifth inning with four runs. Morris and Colby Wilson both singled to begin the rally before a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly from Jake Hollins helped extend the lead to 9-2.

The Saints continued to add on in the sixth when Garett Wilson delivered another RBI, this time on a double to make it 10-2. In the seventh inning, Derek Onevelo doubled to score Hollins and Morris later drove in another run with a sacrifice fly to cap the scoring.

On the mound, Graczyk earned the win after allowing two runs on four hits across five innings, striking out seven. The Saints pitching staff held Staten Island scoreless over the final four innings to secure the victory. Eric Osterstrom followed with one inning of relief, allowing one hit and punching out one batter on strikes. Ryan McCarthy worked a scoreless inning and Evan Froelich closed the game with a scoreless frame of his own, striking out two.

Up next for the Saints, they'll travel to Clarion, Pa. to take on Clarion University for a midweek match-up on Tuesday, April 14th. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
