BUFFALO, N.Y. — D'Youville (10-12, 7-7 ECC) fell to Mercy College (18-6, 12-1 ECC), 60-46, at the Saints Center Gym. Despite a strong fourth quarter with 23 points, the Saints could not overcome the Mavericks' consistent performance.
D'Youville opened the game with a balanced attack, with
Molly O'Toole (Rochester, N.Y. / Aquinas Institute) contributing crucial defensive rebounds and scoring four points, including a jumper at 5:19 to keep the game tight.
Morgan Giancaterino's (Orchard Park, N.Y. / Sacred Heart Academy) three-pointer at 6:28 tied the score at 5, but the Mavericks maintained a slight edge throughout the quarter. Despite the Saints' efforts, including a late three-pointer from
Xanthippi Karatasiou (Katerini, Greece / Kontariotissa) at 1:23, the home team trailed 17–14 at the end of the first quarter.
D'Youville struggled offensively in the second quarter, unable to convert on 12 field goal attempts.
Allie Hall (Rochester, N.Y. / Bishop Kearney) managed to secure a free throw early in the quarter at 8:10, marking the only point for the Saints in this stretch. Despite a defensive steal by

Morgan Giancaterino's jumper at 5:30, assisted by
Molly O'Toole.
Samantha Ruhlman (Warren, Pa. / Warren Area) added to the scoring with two successful jump shots, narrowing the gap. Despite these efforts, the Mavericks maintained their lead, bolstered by three-point shooting. The quarter concluded with the Mavericks ahead, 43-23.
D'Youville found a rhythm in the final quarter, sparked by
Xanthippi Karatasiou's offensive contributions, including a 3-pointer at 8:37.
Megan Fedor and
Morgan Giancaterino added key layups to maintain pressure, while
Allie Hall's defensive efforts included a critical block at 5:51. Despite the Mavericks' attempts to rally, the Saints outscored their opponent in this quarter 23-17. The game concluded with the Saints narrowing the gap, but ultimately falling short, ending 60-46 in favor of the Mavericks.
