Saints Slide by Molloy in 3-2 Conference Victor

UNIONDALE, N.Y. — D'Youville (6-8, 4-3) defeated Molloy (3-8, 3-4) 3-2 on Wednesday, scoring in each of the first three quarters to secure the conference victory. The Saints finished with a 21-12 advantage in shots and a 12-9 edge in shots on goal, holding off the Lions in the final quarter to preserve the win.

Jimena Loustalot led the Saints with a goal and two assists while recording a team-high six shots, including three on goal. Rowynn Pickering scored the game-winning goal and finished with four shots, two of which were on target. Meeah Wegryznowski added a goal on four shots, putting three attempts on goal, while Sarah Reifsnyder recorded seven saves in 60 minutes in goal.

After Molloy opened the scoring, D'Youville responded at 9:46 of the first quarter when Wegryznowski finished a pass from Loustalot to even the score at 1-1. The Saints continued to pressure the Lions with consecutive penalty corners and additional scoring chances, but neither team found the net again before the end of the opening quarter.

D'Youville took its first lead at 20:29 in the second quarter when Pickering scored off an assist from Loustalot to make it 2-1. The Saints continued to generate opportunities through penalty corners and shots on goal, while Reifsnyder made a key save to help maintain the one-goal advantage heading into halftime.

The Saints extended their lead in the third quarter when Loustalot scored off a pass from Sydney Bolesta at 36:51, pushing the advantage to 3-1. Molloy responded less than three minutes later, as Lauren Brodowsky scored at 39:54 to cut the deficit to 3-2. Reifsnyder made five saves in the quarter to help D'Youville carry its narrow lead into the final 15 minutes.

D'Youville continued to attack in the fourth quarter, recording five shots and earning three penalty corners. Pickering, Loustalot and Wegryznowski each put attempts on goal, but Molloy's defense kept the Saints from adding to their lead. Reifsnyder also came through with a late save during a pair of Molloy penalty corners in the 59th minute, helping D'Youville withstand the final push and close out the 3-2 victory.

With the win, D'Youville improved to 6-8 overall and 4-3 in conference play, while Molloy fell to 3-8 overall and 3-4 in conference action.
