BUFFALO, N.Y. — D'Youville (5-13, 5-5 ECC) secured an 82-75 victory over Roberts Wesleyan university on Wednesday night at Saints Center Gym.
The Saints initiated the first half with a layup from
Elisha Warren, setting the tone early. As the half progressed,
Sean Reynolds stood out with two critical three-pointers, including one at 13:17, which helped DYU regain a narrow lead. The team showed resilience, particularly in the paint, accumulating 16 points and maintaining a slight edge on the scoreboard. Despite the Redhawks' late three-pointer at the buzzer, the Saints concluded the half ahead, 37-34.
D'Youville gained momentum early in the second half with a steal from
Maxence Massadila leading to a Warren layup, extending their lead to 39–34.
Dawson Matsell and Reynolds contributed significantly with back-to-back three-pointers, pushing the home team's advantage further. Despite a challenge from RWU, D'Youville maintained control with a crucial three-pointer from Matsell at the 5:08 mark and sustained their lead. The half concluded with D'Youville outscoring the visitors 45-41, ending the game with an overall victory of 82-75.
Reynolds scored 24 points, converting five three-pointers and finishing 8-for-12 from the field. Matsell added 16 points, making three three-pointers and collecting seven rebounds. Warren also contributed 16 points, while recording five assists and two blocks. Massadila facilitated the offense with eight assists and added two steals.
The next challenge for D'Youville is a matchup against the College of Staten Island on Friday, Feb. 6. They will compete in Staten Island, New York, with the game set to tip off at 7:45 p.m.
