BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville University men's basketball team will take center stage this Saturday, as its matchup against No. 2 Daemen University has been selected as the FloCollege Division II Game of the Week, highlighting one of the premier contests on the slate for this weekend.
"Being the FloCollege Division II Game of the Week gives a great platform to show what D'Youville men's basketball is all about," said head men's basketball coach
Andy Stark. "It helps showcase our brand, the culture we continue to build, and puts our student-athletes, campus, and community in front of a national audience."
The highly anticipated local rivalry will be streamed live on FloCollege, but will be free to view on YouTube, Facebook, and on X. This access will give fans across the country the opportunity to watch two East Coast Conference programs square-off in a game with significant conference and regional implications.
The Saints enter the matchup looking to build momentum against a familiar opponent. DYU has won two of their last three games. Daemen on the other hand is coming off a loss against Gannon University this past Wednesday. The last time these two teams met was last season, D'Youville took the then-ranked No. 1 team in the country to overtime but their efforts fell just short.
The Game of the Week designation underscores the growing visibility of the D'Youville men's basketball team and the strength of competition within the ECC.
"This type of exposure is important as we continue to grow the program, attract the right people, and establish D'Youville as a top destination for high level student-athletes," Stark added.
Tipoff between these crosstown rivals is set for tomorrow, January 24th, at 12 p.m. from Lumsden Gymnasium on the campus of Daemen University. Fans can watch the game free of charge
