BUFFALO, N.Y. — The D'Youville University men's basketball team (3-11, 3-3 ECC) secured a decisive 82-60 victory over the University of the District of Columbia (1-12, 0-5 ECC) on Sunday at Saints Center Gym.
The Saints started the first half strong, taking an early lead with
Sean Reynolds hitting a three-pointer at 19:28 assisted by
Elisha Warren. DYU maintained momentum with
Maxence Massadila contributing a layup at 16:40. The Firebirds kept the game competitive, tying the score at 16 with 11:10 left, but D'Youville surged ahead again with key plays, including a fast-break layup by Reynolds at 3:00. The half concluded with Saints leading 35–29.
DYU established dominance early in the second half with a significant scoring run, highlighted by Reynolds' fast-break three-pointer at 15:37.
Justin Moore contributed with a series of impactful plays, including a layup and a three-pointer, boosting the home team's lead. D'Youville's defense proved effective, forcing turnovers and converting them into points, as evidenced by Warren's dunk on a fast break. The half concluded with Saints leading comfortably, outscoring UDC 47-31, and securing an 82-60 victory.
Reynolds scored 16 points, making 6-of-10 field goals, including four three-pointers. Moore also contributed 16 points, converting 5-of-6 free throws and adding seven rebounds. Warren added 14 points, shooting 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. Massadila facilitated the offense with seven assists.
Looking ahead, the Saints will travel to face Molloy University on Friday, Jan. 16, at 7:30 p.m.
