PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. — The D'Youville University men's soccer team (0-2) was narrowly defeated by Pace University, 3-2, on Sunday at Northwell Stadium.
The first half began with D'Youville pushing forward, resulting in
Luca Mansfield-Osborne scoring in the 16th minute, assisted by
Conor Livingstone and
Finn Savage.
Jonathan Ghobrial further extended the lead for the Saints with a goal in the 26th minute. Despite the Setters' Thiago Lugo narrowing the margin with a goal in the 32nd minute, D'Youville maintained a slim 2-1 advantage at the end of the half.
The second half began evenly, but a quick succession of goals by Pace's Pietro Carvalho in the 68th minute and Daniel Santos a minute later shifted the momentum. Despite facing a 3-2 deficit,
Matthew Solorio kept the team competitive with key saves, including one against Santos in the 77th minute. DYU responded with several attacks, with
Omar Daoudi and
Asier Fernandez both attempting shots in the final minutes, but they were unable to alter the scoreline before the end of the match.
Ghobrial scored a goal and registered two shots on goal for D'Youville. Mansfield-Osborne added another goal with his single shot being on target. Livingstone contributed with an assist, bolstering the team's offensive efforts. Savage also recorded an assist, complementing his performance with one shot.
Looking ahead, the Saints will host American International College on September 10, with the match set for 1 p.m. at Dobson Field in Buffalo, N.Y.
