Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. — Barry University came out on top of D'Youville University in straight sets 25-18, 25-16, 25-18 on Friday at the Health & Sports Center in the Saints opening regular season match. Barry's potent attack was led by a .493 hitting percentage, complemented by 11 service aces. D'Youville at times struggled to contain Barry's offense and committed 13 service errors during the match that didn't help the Saints gain their momentum. 

D'Youville fell in Set 1 as Barry claimed a 25-18 victory. The Saints managed to keep it close with contributions from Cameron Ulinski, who registered three kills, and Giselle Ramirez, who added two. However, service errors proved costly for D'Youville, as they committed seven, undermining their efforts to stay in the set against Barry's effective offense led by Veronika Eremeeva's five kills.

Barry secured Set 2 with a decisive 25-16 victory over the Saints, capitalizing on several service errors and effectively utilizing their serves for a series of aces. D'Youville struggled to maintain consistency, committing five service errors, while Barry's Varvara Osychenko contributed significantly with two service aces. Madeline O'Brien of D'Youville managed to land two service aces, but Barry's attacking led by Francesca Good's kills maintained their advantage throughout the set.

D'Youville fell short in Set 3 against Barry, losing 25-18. Despite a competitive effort featuring multiple kills and rallies from O'Brien and Ramirez, the team was unable to overcome Barry's strong service game, which included four service aces from Eremeeva. The Saints' performance was hindered by service errors and attack errors, allowing Barry to maintain their lead and secure the set victory. 

The Saints will have a chance to quickly bounce back as they travel to Nova Southeastern to compete in the Shark invitational tournament where they will face Malone at 11:00 am and Nova Southeastern at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 6th.
