GREENSBURG, P.A. – The D'Youville University baseball team dropped two tightly contested games against Seton Hill University to close out their Spring Break trip on Saturday.
 
Seton Hill 4, D'Youville 0
 
The Griffins took an early 1-0 lead with a base hit and an error that led to a sacrifice fly off Saints' starter Bryce Hediger (Chaffee, N.Y.) in the bottom of the first. Sophomore Derek Onevelo (Buffalo, N.Y.) singled and advanced to second on a groundout to give the Saints a scoring chance in the top of the second, but they were unable to score.
 
Junior Blaise Kolbert (Lancaster, N.Y.) replaced Hediger in the bottom of the second. He recorded a strikeout and erased a hit batsman with an inning-ending double play to work a scoreless frame. He tossed a scoreless third and fourth inning as well to keep DYU within a run. Seton Hill pushed across a run in the bottom of the fifth with a double and a sacrifice fly off senior Connor Bowman (Orchard Park, N.Y.).
 
In the top of the sixth, the Saints tried to mount a two-out rally after redshirt junior Jake Hollins (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and senior Dillon Crook (Liverpool, N.Y.) both singled, but they couldn't push either of them across as the score remained 2-0. The Griffins tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to go ahead 4-0 and went on to seal the win in the top of the seventh.
 
Seton Hill 2, D'Youville 1
 
DYU got on the board first in game two. Base hits from Crook and junior Jonathan Simpson (Grand Island, N.Y.) set up an RBI single from senior Alec Boucher (Essex, Ontario) to go ahead 1-0. Seton Hill responded with a single and a double off Saints' starter Ryan McCarthy (Hamburg, N.Y.) to even the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first.
 
In the bottom of the fourth, a single and a double put runners at second and third with one out for the Griffins, but McCarthy was able to get a groundout and a strikeout to get out of the jam and keep the score at 1-1. The game remained deadlocked until the bottom of the sixth, when a leadoff triple set up a sacrifice fly to give Seton Hill a 2-1 lead.
 
The Saints had an opportunity to tie the game in the top of the seventh when Simpson and Boucher both singled to lead off the inning, but the next three batters were retired and the score remained 2-1. DYU went down in order in the eighth and ninth as the Griffins secured the 2-1 victory.
 
D'Youville falls to 3-15 with the loss. They will return home to face Gannon University in their home opener at Sal Maglie Stadium on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
