BUFFALO, N.Y. — D'Youville fell to Slippery Rock University, 85-68, at Saints Center Gym on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints opened the game with a fast-paced approach, staying competitive through strong paint presence, scoring 20 points in the paint.
Trayton Trice and
Elisha Warren contributed with key layups, while
Sean Reynolds delivered a critical steal and layup at 0:42 to briefly edge DYU ahead. Despite their efforts, D'Youville concluded the first half trailing The Rock by a narrow margin, 33–32.
The Saints' efforts in the second half were highlighted by a
Justin Moore jumper at 5:50, which narrowed the deficit to 10 points.
Dawson Matsell contributed significantly with a three-pointer at 13:52, temporarily keeping the team within striking distance. Despite these efforts, SRU maintained control with consistent scoring inside the paint and extended their lead. The game ended with SRU securing an 85–68 victory.
Warren led the team with 17 points, converting 8 of 10 free throws and collecting six rebounds. Trice contributed nine points and recorded four steals while adding seven rebounds. Matsell added 11 points, including one three-pointer, and grabbed two rebounds.
Kevin Thompson scored 11 points, hitting two three-pointers and finishing with one rebound.
In their next game, the Saints will face Molloy University at home on Friday, Dec. 5 in their conference opener. Tipoff is set for 7:45 p.m.
