COLONIA, N.J. – It was a strong week for D'Youville University athletics, as four student-athletes have been named to this week's East Coast Conference weekly awards report.
Madeline O'Brien, Women's Volleyball – Co-Player of the Week
O'Brien delivered the strongest two-match performance across all phases of play for DYU last week, totaling 24 kills, 21 digs, and two blocks across a pair of ECC victories over top-seeded Mercy and St. Thomas Aquinas. Against Mercy, O'Brien posted 18 kills on 52 swings (.154) while adding 10 digs, contributing significantly to the team's five-set victory. She followed that with a steady outing against STAC, finishing with six kills and a team-high 11 digs. O'Brien played a major role in first contact, helped stabilize serve-receive, and remained one of D'Youville's most reliable scoring options en route to a 2-0 ECC week for the Saints.
Angelyn Jaramillo, Women's Volleyball – Defensive Player of the Week
Jaramillo was D'Youville's most active and productive back-row presence throughout the weekend. The DYU freshman opened with a standout performance against ECC top-seeded Mercy, posting 17 digs, five service aces, and five assists, while handling 21 serve-receive attempts. Against St. Thomas Aquinas, Jaramillo added seven more digs and another ace and contributed to 18 additional receptions. Jaramillo's court coverage, reading ability, and reliable first contact allowed D'Youville to stay in system more consistently, and her serving pressure created momentum swings in both matches.
Alina Bertens-Deckart, Women's Volleyball – Honor Roll
Bertens-Deckart totaled 64 assists across two matches, 38 in the victory over ECC top-seeded Mercy and 26 more in the sweep of STAC. She guided D'Youville to a .218 hitting percentage in the second match and added five service aces, 11 digs, and two blocks on the weekend. Against Mercy, she even chipped in offensively with five kills on seven swings for a .286 hitting percentage, giving the Saints important second-touch scoring when plays broke down.
Cameron Ulinski, Women's Volleyball – Honor Roll
Cameron Ulinski finished with 21 kills on 53 swings against Mercy and consistently produced in high-pressure moments, especially late in sets four and five. Ulinski also added eight digs, a service ace, and played all six rotations, providing both scoring and back-court stability.
