Saints Field Hockey Drops Hard Fought Road Test

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — D'Youville field hockey showed grit on the road Friday afternoon, battling through a tough matchup at Elizabethtown College before ultimately falling 4–0.

The Saints wasted no time testing the Blue Jays' defense. After an early Elizabethtown goal in the sixth minute, D'Youville answered back with pressure in the circle, highlighted by a strong shot from Madisyn Grawl in the tenth minute that forced a defensive stop. In the opening quarter, goalkeeper Sarah Reifsnyder set the tone for the Saints' defense with a critical save to halt a potential third goal, keeping D'Youville within striking distance as the quarter closed 2–0.

The Saints continued to generate chances in the second quarter. Chloe Burkhard delivered a well-executed penalty corner, leading to a quality look from Ella Darvalics that tested Elizabethtown's keeper. Defensively, D'Youville tightened up down the stretch of the half, with Reifsnyder coming up big on multiple saves to send the game into halftime at 3–0.

Elizabethtown added a fourth goal early in the third, but the Saints refused to back down. Reifsnyder came through again with clutch stops against the Blue Jays' sustained pressure, while the defensive unit led by Sydney Bolesta worked to disrupt the home team's rhythm.

In the final quarter, D'Youville turned up the offensive intensity. Burkhard sparked an early penalty corner opportunity, followed by a shot on goal from Erica Prible that required a save from the Blue Jays' goalkeeper. As the clock wound down, Nicole Chapungu, Prible, and Bolesta all took their shots at breaking through, with two more penalty corners in the closing minutes keeping Elizabethtown's defense on its heels.

Darvalics and Bolesta each recorded a shot on goal, while Reifsnyder finished the day with seven saves, anchoring the Saints through a demanding road test.

D'Youville now turns its attention to another road matchup, traveling to Millersville, Pa., to face Millersville University on October 5th at noon.
