BUFFALO, N.Y. — In a rainy and windy night at Dobson Field, the D'Youville University men's soccer team came away with a dominate 4-1 win over Daemen University Wednesday evening.
D'Youville opened the first half assertively, taking an early lead with a goal by
Dylan Danch in the 14th minute. Shortly after,
Ethan Filbert extended the advantage to 2-0 with a goal in the 17th minute. Daemen responded with a goal in the 32nd minute, closing the gap to 2-1. The half ended with D'Youville ahead 2-1.
The Saints extended their lead early in the second half with persistent offensive efforts. Despite multiple attempts, including shots by Filbert and
Ethan Robinson, it was
Shawn Richardson who broke through, scoring in the 76th minute to make it 3-1. The home team maintained pressure, resulting in a
Luca Mansfield-Osborne goal in the 88th minute, assisted by Danch, sealing the match with a final score of 4-1. The game concluded with D'Youville securing a decisive victory over the Wildcats.
Filbert secured the game-winning goal with one of his two shots on goal. Danch contributed significantly with a goal and an assist, finishing with five shots and two on target. Richardson added a goal, converting one of his three shots into a score. In goal,
Matthew Solorio recorded three saves, allowing only one goal in the match.
In their next game, D'Youville will head to Rockville Centre, N.Y., to face Molloy University on Saturday, Oct. 25. The match is set to begin at noon.
