BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville University women's basketball team was defeated by Roberts Wesleyan University on Wednesday by a score of 60-51.

Anna Jankovic (Averill Park, N.Y.) led the Saints' offense with 14 points and recorded seven rebounds and three steals. Senior
Sofie Fuglsang (Oberanven, Luxembourg) also tallied a double-digit scoring night with 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Redshirt sophomore
Megan Fedor (Elmira, N.Y.) added ten points and eight rebounds.

Fuglsang got DYU on the board with a layup, but the Saints fell into a 13-3 hole to start the first quarter. Fedor sank a pair of free throws to make it 13-5 and Fuglsang knocked down a midrange jumper in the closing seconds of the quarter to cut the Redhawks' lead to 13-7.

Junior
Morgan Giancaterino (Orchard Park, N.Y.) put in a layup to keep the Saints within six early in the second quarter. Fuglsang sank a pair of midrange jumpers to make it 17-13 at the 5:52 mark. A layup from Fedor kept Roberts Wesleyan's lead at four with 2:27 remaining in the second quarter. Freshman
Aliviya Vallone Russell (Buffalo, N.Y.) then cashed in from beyond the arc to make it 22-21 with 1:46 left until halftime. Roberts Wesleyan held a 24-21 lead as the game went to halftime.

Jankovic made a layup and converted a free throw to tie the game at 24-24 to start the third quarter. The Redhawks went back up by four, but Jankovic put in a layup and freshman
Allie Hall (Rochester, N.Y.) cut the deficit back down to one at the 6:19 mark. With 3:57 remaining in the quarter, Jankovic drained a three-pointer to make it 36-32 Roberts. Vallone Russell drained a three-pointer to tie the game at 39-39 with 30 seconds to go, but the Redhawks went back in front 41-39 to close out the quarter.

Jankovic kept DYU within two with a layup in the early going of the fourth quarter. However, Roberts scored eight straight points to take a 51-41 lead halfway through the quarter. Vallone Russell put in her third three-pointer of the night to cut the Saints' deficit to seven 3:51 remaining. DYU stayed within seven after Jankovic converted a layup with 50 seconds remaining. Fedor knocked down a three-pointer with 17 seconds left, but it was too little too late as Roberts Wesleyan went on to win 60-51.

D'Youville falls to 4-13 and 2-6 in the ECC with the loss. They will be back in action next Friday when they host the University of the District of Columbia at the Saints Center.
