COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – TO start out the 2025 portion of the season, the D'Youville University women's wrestling team competed at the Ursinus Duals hosted by Ursinus College.
The Saints went 1-3 on the day with their lone win coming against Muhlenburg College in a 35-5 win. DYU had a pair of wrestlers get three wins on the day with
Saniyah Ward (The Colony, Texas/The Colony) at 138 pounds and
Mackenzie Laforest (Waverly, N.Y./Waverly) at 207 pounds, each going 3-1 on the day. Ward won all her matches via fall with Laforest winning two of her three matches by fall.
Also having a strong day was freshman
Alexis Brua (New Castle, Pa/Laurel) at 124 pounds, winning two of her matches. Both of Brua's wins came by via fall.
Alessandra Elliott (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenvile) was the Saints last wrestler to get multiple wins on the day, winning a pair of matches including one by fall.
Also getting wins on the day was
Madison Wellen (East Berlin, Pa./Wyoming Secondary) at 131 pounds and
Riley Wentlent (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Depew) at 180 pounds.
The team will be back in action next Sunday when they compete in the Sacred Heart Tri-Meet when they take on #14 Sacred Heart University and Delaware Valley University. Action begins at 12 p.m.
