ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The D'Youville University women's basketball team was defeated 66-53 by Molloy University on Sunday.

Anna Jankovic (Averill Park, N.Y.) recorded her fifth double-double of the season for the Saints, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, both team-highs. Freshman
Aliviya Vallone Russell (Buffalo, N.Y.) turned in her second consecutive double-digit scoring performance with 11 points.

Isabella Kostyal-Larrier (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) got the scoring started for DYU as they trailed 6-5 early in the first quarter. Seven straight points by Molloy gave them a 13-5 lead before freshman
Allie Hall (Rochester, N.Y.) converted a layup to stop the run. Jankovic put in a layup in the closing seconds of the quarter and the Saints went to the second quarter trailing 16-9.

After the Lions extended their lead to 22-11 early in the second quarter, layups from Jankovic and Hall and a three-pointer from Vallone Russell brought the Saints within four with 3:48 remaining until halftime. However, Molloy closed out the quarter on a 7-1 run to take a 29-19 advantage going into halftime.

Kostyal-Larrier knocked down a three-pointer to make it a 31-22 deficit for DYU early in the third quarter. A three-pointer from redshirt sophomore
Megan Fedor (Elmira, N.Y.) kept the Saints within ten halfway through the third quarter. Vallone Russell drained back-to-back three-pointers to draw within eight with just under two minutes remaining in the quarter. Jankovic put in a layup in the final seconds to make it 45-37 as the game moved to the fourth quarter.

Molloy scored seven-straight points to start the fourth quarter to lengthen their lead to fifteen. Senior
Sofie Fuglsang (Oberanven, Luxembourg) cashed in from beyond the arc to stop the run and make it 52-43 at the 7:11 mark. Freshman
Samantha Ruhlman (Warren, Pa.) followed with a three-pointer of her own to cut the deficit to six. Jankovic converted a layup to keep DYU within six with 4:37 left in regulation. The Lions brought their lead back to ten, but Vallone Russell drained a three-pointer to cut it to 58-51 with 1:57 to play. However, Molloy closed out the game on an 8-2 run to claim the 66-53 victory.

With the loss, D'Youville drops to 4-11 and 2-4 in the ECC. They will be back in action on Saturday when they visit crosstown rival Daemen University.
