BUFFALO, N.Y. – In the team's home opener, the D'Youville University women's soccer team drew with visiting Ursuline College Wednesday evening by a score of 0-0.
The Saints (0-2-1) had their fair share of looks on the net, having eight shots on net to the Arrows' four. DYU go their first look in the 10th minute of action with
Makaylah Higgins (Warsaw, N.Y./Warsaw) having an opportunity but was turned away. In the 25th minute of play,
Manta Socada (Helsinki, Finland/Deutsche Schule Helsinki) also had an opportunity but was turned away.
In the second half of action,
Eleonora Cecchini (San Marino, Fiorentino, Italy/Liceo delle Scienze Umane) got the Saints' first look in the fresh half but the shot was saved in the 70th minute. After a few more attempts being turned away, the last effort came in the 83rd as
Laoise O'Haodha (Limerick, Ireland/Gaelcholaiste Luimnigh) had a look but was saved.
Haley Pompeo (Eden, N.Y./Eden) went the distance in net, making two saves on the night.
D'Youville will start the first of a three-game road trip this Saturday as they travel to Lake Erie College for a 6 p.m. start.
