ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Softball team was back to ECC Conference play on Friday afternoon against Molloy University. The Saints fell 9-6 in game one and then lost 13-5 in game two.
Game One – D'Youville University 6 at Molloy University 9
The Molloy Lions got on top first scoring one in the bottom of the first inning, but the Saints came right back to tie it 1-1 in the top of the second after
Mia Trietley (Buffalo, N.Y. / Frederick Law Olmsted) led off the inning with a double in the right centerfield gap.
Isabella Mancino (Wynantskill, N.Y. / Averill Park) knocked a single to left field with two outs to score Trietley.
As gameplay continued, Molloy tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the third. D'Youville got one back in the top of the fourth after
Lauren Booth (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster) led off with a solo homerun to bring the score to 4-2. Molloy added another run in the bottom of the fifth, but
Lauren Booth was dominant at the plat, answering with a two-run homer in the top of the sixth to bring the Saints within one at 5-4. Molloy extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth socring four runs to take the 9-4 lead.
The Saints did not give up scoring two runs in the top of the seventh following singles from
Gianna Adamo (Lockport, N.Y. / Starpoint) and
Halie Furkas (Rockwood, Mich. / Oscar A. Carlson) to bring the Saints within three. With two out and the bases loaded, the Saints were unable to plate any more runs and the Lions would take game one 9-6.
Game Two – D'Youville University 5 at Molloy University 13 – 6 Innings
Molloy took the lead first again in game two, jumping up 1-0 by the end of the first inning. The Saints held strong on defense until the bottom of the third when the Lions added on five more runs to go up 6-0. The Saints put two runs on the board in the top of fourth following singles from
Ava Miller (Elma, N.Y. / St. Mary's) and
Isabella Mancino. The Lions added one more in the fourth to take the 7-2 lead. D'Youville continued to fight, scoring three more runs in the top of the sixth to bring them within two. Mancino scored on a Lions throwing error and
Anna Chapman (Buffalo, N.Y. / West Seneca East) doubled to score another. Adamo knocked in
Laura Beck (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) with a single before the top of the inning ended.
Molloy held strong on offense plating six in the bottom of the sixth to enforce the eight-run rule and win game two 13-5.

The D'Youville University Softball team gets set for another ECC Conference doubleheader on the road tomorrow. The Saints will take on Queens College at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
