The next pitch, the junior stole third and went on to score on a throwing error by the Mavericks to give the Saints the 1-0 lead. The Saints defense held strong until Mercy tied the game at one in the bottom of the fourth. The Saints came right back with an answer in the top of the fifth after Laura Beck (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) led of with a single and immediately stole second. Przybysz put the ball in play to move Beck over to third and Gianna Adamo (Lockport, N.Y. / Starpoint) knocked a single up the middle to score Beck and put the Saints up 2-1.

The Mavericks came back strong in the bottom of the inning plating four runs to take the 5-2 lead. The Saints were unable to manufacture anymore runs on offense and the Mavericks would add one more in the bottom of the sixth to take game one 6-2.
