Box Score 2 ALBANY, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Softball team traveled to Albany, N.Y. to take on regional opponent, the College of Saint Rose on Tuesday afternoon. The Saints fell 7-6 after eight innings in game one and fell 9-7 in game two following the game being called after five innings due to a heavy rain.
Game One – D'Youville University 6 at The College of Saint Rose 7 – 8 Innings
The Golden Knights took control of the game first, plating two runs in the bottom of the first. Saint Rose added one more in the bottom of the second to go up 3-0 as the Saints worked to get on the board. D'Youville plated their first run in the top of the fourth after
Lauren Booth (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster) led off the inning with a walk.
Mia Trietley (Buffalo, N.Y. / Frederick Law Olmsted) entered for Booth as a pinch runner on first.
Mikayla Bush (Elmira Heights, N.Y. / Thomas Edison) put the ball in play to move Trietley to second and Trietley then went on to steal third base and score on a wild pitch to put the Saints on the board.
The Golden Knights got one back in the bottom of the fourth and added another in the bottom of the sixth to go up 5-1. The Saints kept fighting at the plate and finally gained their momentum in the top of the seventh.
Laura Beck (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) singled to score
Emily Przybysz (Hamburg, N.Y. / Frontier Central) and
Halie Furkas (Rockwood, Mich. / Oscar A. Carlson) came up with a hard-hit double to score Beck and tie the game at five.
Mia Trietley again came up in a big spot for the Saints hitting an RBI triple to put the Saints up 6-5. Saint Rose tied the game in the bottom of the seventh 6-6 to send it to extra innings.
The Saints were unable to capitalize in the top of the eighth and Saint Rose would go on to score the winning run on a squeeze bunt in the bottom of the inning to win the first game 7-6.
Game Two – D'Youville University 7 at The College of Saint Rose 9 – 5 Innings
The Golden Knights again took the early lead scoring eight runs in the bottom of the first inning as the rain started to fall in Albany.
Ava Miller (Elma, N.Y. / St. Mary's) led off the top of the second with a double to left field and advanced to third following a Golden Knights error.
Mikayla Bush who walked earlier in the inning stole second allowing Miller to score on the throw to make the game 8-1.
The Saints added another run in the top of third to bring the game to 8-2 and hit their stride on offense in the top of the fourth. The Saints plated five runs that inning following a double from Furkas, a single from Bush, a sacrifice fly from
Cassidy Daves (Blanco, TX / Blanco), and a single from
Ally Beardi (Buffalo, N.Y. / St. Mary's) to bring the score to 8-7. The Golden Knights plated one more run in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 9-7 as the game was called after five innings due to heavy rain.

The D'Youville University Softball team is back on the road for an ECC weekend. The Saints will take on Molloy University in a doubleheader on April 5th and will then take on Queens College on Saturday, April 6th.
