Softball Falls Twice to St. Thomas Aquinas on the Road

SPARKILL, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Softball team faced ECC opponent St. Thomas Aquinas College on the road this afternoon. The Saints fell 5-0 in game one and 10-0 in game two.
 
Game One – D'Youville University 0 at St. Thomas Aquinas College 5
 
The first game started close with both teams unable to cross a run for the first three innings. The Spartans struck first in the bottom of the fourth plating four runs. The fifth inning went scoreless before STAC scored their fifth and final run in the bottom of the sixth. The Saints threatened in the bottom of the second after Ava Miller (Elma, N.Y. / St. Mary's) and Sophia Arno (Clarence Center, N.Y. / The Brook Hill School) both singled to put runners on first and second, but the inning would end before the Saints could score.
 
Sarah Parzych (Getzville, N.Y. / Williamsville North) threw the complete game for the Saints recording four scoreless innings.
 
Game Two – D'Youville University 0 at St. Thomas Aquinas College 10
 
The Spartans kept the momentum rolling in game two plating three runs in the bottom of the first, two runs in the bottom of the second, and five runs in the bottom of the third. Parzych came in as relief to throw the last inning of the game and threw her fifth scoreless inning of the day to hold the Spartans at 10 runs.
 
Lauren Booth (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster), Ava Miller, Mikayla Bush (Elmira Heights, N.Y. / Thomas Edison), and Isabella Mancino (Wynantskill, N.Y. / Averill Park) each singled throughout the game, but the Saints were unable to gain momentum on offense to score a run throughout the five innings.
 
Up Next
The Saints are back in action downstate tomorrow for a doubleheader against ECC opponent Mercy University. Game one is set for 12:00 PM followed by game two at 2:00 PM.
