BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Softball (5-17, 0-4 ECC) dropped a pair of ECC Conference games to St. Thomas Aquinas College on Friday afternoon at home. The Saints lost a close 7-6 fight in game one and fell 10-1 in game two.
Game One – D'Youville University 6 vs St. Thomas Aquinas College 7
The Spartans got off to a quick start plating two runs in the first inning.
Laura Beck (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) walked in the bottom of the first and stole second to put the Saints in scoring position.
Lauren Booth (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster) singled to left field to score Beck and bring the score to 2-1. Gameplay continued with both teams battling to score another run, but it was not until the top of the sixth that STAC would find their offense again, scoring five runs in the top of the sixth. With the score at 7-1, the Saints would face their last chance to score heading into the bottom of the seventh.
Isabella Mancino (Wynantskill, N.Y. / Averill Park) led off the bottom of the seventh with a pinch-hit infield single and stole second. The Saints put two outs on the board but were not done on offense.
Laura Beck found her way on with an infield single and
Mikayla Bush (Elmira Heights, N.Y. / Thomas Edison) singled to right field to score Mancino.
Lauren Booth came up big again for the Saints with a double to left field scoring both Beck and Bush to bring the score to 7-4.
Gianna Adamo (Lockport, N.Y. / Starpoint) knocked a single to left field and
Ava Miller (Elma, N.Y. / St. Mary's) followed behind with a double to right center to score two and bring the Saints within one.
Anna Chapman (Buffalo, N.Y. / West Seneca East) singled to center field, but the Spartans managed a perfect throw home to throw out a Saints runner for the third out to end the game.

Lauren Booth recording three RBIs and
Ava Miller recording two.
Game Two – D'Youville University 1 vs St. Thomas Aquinas College 10
Game two started much like the first with the Spartans plating two runs quickly in the first inning. The Saints got one back after
Laura Beck got on following an infield single and
Gianna Adamo came up with a double to left field to score Beck and put the Saints on the board.
The Spartans got one back in the top of the third and would tack on four more in the top of the fourth to go up 7-1 against the Saints. The Saints threatened in the bottom of the following a double from Mancino and a walk from Chapman, but D'Youville was unable to get a run in.
The Spartans added three more runs in the top of the fifth to go up 10-1 and with the Saints unable to answer, D'Youville would fall 10-1 in game two.

The D'Youville University Softball team is back home again tomorrow for another big ECC doubleheader against the Mercy University Mavericks. The first pitch is set for 12:00 PM at Dobson Field.
