BUFFALO – The D'Youville University women's basketball team honored their seniors Brianne Moxley (Penfield, N.Y.), Erin Hardick (Amherst, N.Y.), and Carla Torrubia Cano (Melilla, Spain) before their regular season finale against Roberts Wesleyan University on Wednesday. The Saints fell to the Redhawks 59-45.
 
Moxley led DYU in scoring with 12 points. Torrubia Cano grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds. Mercy Lasu (Innisfil, Canada) added six points and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds for the Saints.
 
Anna Jankovic (Averill Park, N.Y.) got the scoring started for the Saints with a layup in the first minute. Moxley knocked down a three-pointer to make it 5-2 with 4:45 left in the first quarter. After falling behind 9-6, Jaelyn Vleer-Elliott (Waterville, N.Y.) made a layup to cut it to 9-8 heading to the second quarter.
 
A layup from Torrubia Cano followed by a three-pointer from Jankovic gave the Saints a 13-11 lead in the early going of the second quarter. After the Redhawks retook the lead, Moxley gave DYU the lead right back with a mid-range jumper. A 10-footer from Torrubia Cano extended their lead to three with 4:47 to go until halftime. The Saints would head to halftime trailing 23-20.
 
Consecutive layups from Isabella Kostyal-Larrier (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) put the Saints ahead 24-23 to begin the second half. 13 straight points from Roberts Wesleyan put them ahead before a pair of free throws from Moxley put a stop to the run. A close-range jumper from Stella Mollica (Shillington, Pa.) cut the Redhawks lead to 42-29 as the game moved to the fourth quarter.
 
Six straight points from Lasu kept the Saints within 14 in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter. Sofie Fuglsang (Oberanven, Luxembourg) poured in a three-pointer to make it 54-42 with 2:27 remaining. Moxley then knocked down a three of her own to keep them within 12, but Roberts Wesleyan would go on to clinch the win.
 
The Saints will play on the road in the first round of the ECC conference tournament with their opponent still to be determined.
