BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Men's Volleyball team fell to the LIU Sharks 3-1 on Friday night in a NEC matchup at the College Center.

D'Youville University 1 vs Long Island University 3 – 27-25, 15-25, 19-25, 21-25
Set One
The Saints and Sharks fought back and forth right from the start of set one. After the lead going back and forth, the Saints managed a two-point lead at 12-10 after a Sharks error and a kill from Randy Adorno (Bayamon, Puerto Rico / Winter Park). The Sharks came right back again retaking the lead by one. The game remained close, but the Sharks reached 20 first with the Saints still at 18. The Saints climbed their way back and tied the set at 25 after a Sharks error. Another error from the Sharks and a kill from Ian De Wilde (Lockport, N.Y. / Starpoint) gave the Saints the 27-25 win over LIU in set one.  

Set Two
A kill from Tymek Brzoza (Tychy, Poland / NLO Jastrzebski Wegiel) gave the Saints the early 2-1 lead in set two, but the Sharks immediately fought back retaking the lead to jump up 5-3. The Saints again fought back and a kill from Adorno tied the game at eight. From there, the Sharks took off and reached 20 with the Saints still at 12. Haven Wankerl (Cross Plains, Wisc. / Middleton) had the final kill for the Saints, but the Sharks took the set 25-15.

Set Three
Set Three started the same as the first two with both teams exchanging the lead. A kill From Ian De Wilde tied the game at six, but the Sharks would retake the lead and hold it at 20-16. Spencer Boakye (Union, N.J. / Union) had the final kill for the Saints and LIU would win set three 25-19.

Set Four
The Sharks took the 4-3 lead, but a kill from Ethan Robinson (Toronto, Canada) tied the game and the Saints took off jumping ahead 9-7. The Sharks continued to fight back and reclaimed the lead, getting ahead 15-13 on the Saints. The score remained close, but the Sharks continued to hold the lead. The Sharks reached game point at 24-20 and after a kill from Wankerl to keep the Saints alive one point longer, the Sharks took the fourth set 25-21 and the match 3-1.
 
Saints Stats
Ian De Wilde led the Saints offense with 11 kills followed closely by Tymek Brzoza with nine. Randy Adorno recorded 34 assists on the night along with 11 digs. The Saints as a team recorded 35 digs on the night compared to the Sharks 30.
