SALEM, W.V. – The D'Youville Softball team heads to Salem, West Virginia for two days of doubleheaders hosted by Salem University followed by a doubleheader on Sunday at Seton Hill University. The weekend will kick off the 2024 season for the Saints who are currently slotted fourth in the East Coast Conference Preseason Poll.

A New Season for the Saints
The D'Youville Softball team is back for their 2024 season and ready to open in West Virginia. The Saints are returning 10 players while welcoming six newcomers under new head coach,
Connor Moriarty. The Saints finished their 2023 campaign 19-28 overall and 10-10 in the East Coast Conference.
The Saints return four ECC All-Conference Second team players in second basemen,
Gianna Adamo (Lockport, N.Y. / Starpoint), outfielder,
Laura Beck (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa), Utility/Pitcher,
Lauren Booth (Lancaster, N.Y. / Lancaster), and pitcher
Sarah Parzych (Getzville, N.Y. / Williamsville North).
Malone University Pioneers
The Pioneers will kick off their season in Salem, West Virginia as well after finishing last season 15-27 overall and 8-16 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Malone is run by Jeff Hite who is entering his fourth season as head of the program. The Pioneers return 11 players while welcoming in 11 new players as well. This will be the first time the Saints will face off with Malone University after a doubleheader was cancelled between the two teams last year. The Saints are scheduled to host Malone later this year at home for a doubleheader on April 9th.
Virginia Union University Panthers
Virginia Union has begun their 2024 season 0-8 after finishing 2023 9-23 overall and 6-10 in the CIAA. The Panthers are coached by Dominque Mulero, and they return 11 players while welcoming six newcomers. This will be the first time the Saints face off with the Panthers in program history.
Ursuline College Arrows
The arrows will begin their season this weekend as well after finishing 2-35 last year overall and 2-20 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Ursuline will welcome back 11 players as well as five newcomers under head coach, Danielle L'argent who is in her second season. This will be the Saints first time facing off with the Arrows.
Salem University Tigers
The Tigers began their season 2-0 against Kentucky State University on Wednesday after finishing 21-30 last year. Salem is coached by Steve Potts who is in his 13th year as the head coach. The Tigers return 14 players while welcoming 12 new players to the team. This will be the second time the Saints and Tigers have faced off following Salem defeating D'Youville 2-1 last year at the Spring Games in Leesburg, Florida.
Seton Hill University Griffins
The Griffins have begun their 2024 season 4-0 after finishing 29-17 overall last year and 22-8 in the PSAC. The Griffins are coached by Cassie Moore in her second season and return 19 players while welcoming in seven newcomers. This will be the first time the Saints and Griffins meet, and the Griffins will host the Saints for a 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM doubleheader on Sunday, February 25th.
