Warren And Thompson Have Career Days As Saints Edged-Out By Felician

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – In the first of back-to-back road games, the D'Youville University men's basketball team fell to Felician University Saturday afternoon by a score of 87-83.
 
The Saints (2-9) were led by Elisha Warren (Woodhaven, Mich./Woodhaven) with a career-high 23 points along with Kevin Thompson (Buffalo, N.Y./Bishop Timon-St. Jude) who also had a career-high with 17 points. Justin Moore (Oxford, Ala./Oxford) and Jordan Turner (Houston, Texas/Sunrise Christian) each chipped in with 10 points each.
 
D'Youville came flying out the gates, going on a 20-4 run to open the game in the first five minutes of action. Warren led the charge with seven points with Thompson adding six points. The Golden Falcons were able to claw their way back into the game, trailing by eight with 10 minutes left in the half. The Saints quickly got the momentum back, scoring seven unanswered with a layup and a three-pointer from Thompson to make it 36-21.
 
DYU led by as many as 18 points in the half and thanks to another three-pointer from Thompson, took a 58-42 lead into the break.
 
It was a tail of two halves, as Felician started the second half hot, going on a 20-4 run to tie the game at 62-62 with 11:46 left in regulation. Both teams went tick for tat with one another as D'Youville could get no more than a two-possession lead. The Golden Falcons kept within striking distance and getting the lead with 34 seconds left in the game off a three-pointer to help put them on top.
 
D'Youville went 29-for-64 (45.3 percent) from the floor with Felician went 29-for-63 (46 percent) from the field. The Golden Falcons held the advantage on the boards, grabbing 35 rebounds to the Saints' 29 boards. DYU did get big contributions from the bench, having 42 points come from the nonstarters.
 
The Saints will have a quick turnaround as they face Holy Family University tomorrow for a 4 p.m. tip.
