BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville University men's soccer team's season came to a close on Thursday night with a 2-0 loss in the ECC Quarterfinals against Molloy University.

The Lions outshot the Saints nine to one, with DYU's lone shot on goal coming off the foot of freshman
Omar Daoudi (South Burlington, Vt.). Saints' freshman goalkeeper
Matthew Solorio (Kansas City, Mo.) recorded seven saves on the night.

Molloy got on the board early, beating Solorio and the defense to take a 1-0 advantage in the seventh minute.

The Saints didn't get a shot off until the 32
nd minute, when senior
Charlie Stewart (Aberdeen, Scotland) unleashed a shot that missed high.

DYU had one more chance before half, as Daoudi let one rip but missed wide right and the Saints went to the locker room trailing by a goal.

In the 58
th minute, D'Youville saw a scoring opportunity when Daoudi got off a shot at the top of the box, but it was smothered by the Lions' goalkeeper.

Freshman
Dylan Danch (Erie, Pa.) got a chance in the box in the 68
th minute, but his shot was blocked by a Molloy defender.

The Lions put the game to bed in the 80
th minute, as they got through the defense and put one past Solorio to extend their lead to 2-0.

Despite the loss, the future looks bright for the Saints. They finish the season 5-8-3 and had four players named to All-Conference teams, a remarkable turnaround following a winless season in 2023.
