BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville University women's basketball team suffered a 73-55 road loss to Edinboro University on Wednesday.

Senior
Anna Jankovic (Averill Park, N.Y.) led the Saints in scoring with 15 points and rebounding with nine boards. Freshman
Aliviya Vallone Russell (Buffalo, N.Y.) posted a solid showing, scoring 11 points and dishing out a team-high four assists. Junior
Isabella Kostyal-Larrier (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) was DYU's third double-digit scorer of the day, dropping a season-high 10 points.

After falling behind 6-0 to start the game, Jankovic poured in a three-pointer to get the Saints on the board. The Fighting Scots proceeded to go on another 6-0 run to go up 12-3 before Kostyal-Larrier cashed in from three to stop the run. After going down 18-8, a three-pointer from Vallone Russell followed by layups from Jankovic and Kostyal-Larrier brought DYU within two as the first quarter came to an end.

A mid-range jumper from Kostyal-Larrier tied the game at 18 to begin the second quarter. However, a 10-0 run from Edinboro ensued and the Saints found themselves down 28-18 halfway through the quarter. Jankovic put in a layup and redshirt sophomore
Megan Fedor (Elmira, N.Y.) cashed in two free throws to trim the deficit to six, but the Fighting Scots rattled off 13-straight points to take a 41-22 advantage. A layup from senior Sophie Fuglsang
(Oberanven, Luxembourg) ended the run and DYU went into halftime trailing 41-24.

The Saints opened the third quarter on a 7-2 run sparked by four points in the paint from freshman
Kaitlyn Mankins (Greensburg, Pa.) and a three-pointer from Fuglsang to cut the deficit to 12. A pair of layups from Jankovic kept the deficit at 12 as the score stood at 51-37 halfway through the third quarter. With 3:43 remaining, junior
Morgan Giancaterino (Orchard Park, N.Y.) put in a layup to cut Edinboro's lead to 10. However, the Fighting Scots responded with seven straight points and went to the fourth quarter with a commanding 17-point lead.

Vallone Russell knocked down a three-pointer to start the fourth quarter and make it a 14-point game. But that's the closest DYU would get, as Edinboro scored five-straight points to extend the lead back to 19. Layups from Giancaterino and Fedor made it 68-51 with 5:05 remaining in regulation. Vallone Russell drained a three-pointer in the closing seconds, but Edinboro clinched the 73-55 victory.

D'Youville falls to 2-4 with the loss and will return home to face #2 Gannon University at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Saints Center.
