BUFFALO, N.Y. – Returning home to Dobson Field for a nonconference matchup, the D'Youville University women's soccer played Felician University to a 1-1 draw Wednesday afternoon.
The Saints (0-7-2) were led offensively by
Laoise O'Haodha (Limerick, Ireland/Gaelcholaiste Luimnigh) scored the team's lone goal while four other players got one shot on goal.
In the first half of action,
Jillian Bernas (Cheektowaga, N.Y./St. Mary's) had DYU's first look on net in the 24th minute but was turned away.
Hannah Dino (Niagara Falls, Ontario/Saint Paul Catholic) had two shots with
T'Mia Kitchings (Hamlin, N.Y./Kendall) and Bernas also had shots towards the end but could not get any to fall to end the half.
The Golden Falcons scored first, coming in the 57th minute to make it a 1-0 lead. O'Haodha got D'Youville on the board in the 58th minute, scoring on the penalty kick. The Saints quickly tried to break the tie in the 61st minute as
Manta Socada (Helsinki, Finland/Duetsche Schule Helsinki) ripped a shot off but was smothered.
Izzy Deachman (Nobleton, Ontario/Bill Crothers Secondary) had a look in the 90th minute of action but was turned away.
Haley Pompeo (Eden, N.Y./Eden) went the distance in net, making two saves on the day.
The Saints will be back in action this Saturday, October 12th, as they return to ECC play against Molloy University at 2:30 p.m.
