Colchester, Vt. – Heading north to take on Saint Michael's College, the D'Youville University women's soccer team dropped the contest by a score of 3-0 Tuesday afternoon.
The Saints (1-11-2) fell behind early in the match as the Purple Knights took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute of action. SMC extended their lead in the 23rd minute. DYU tried to make it a one-goal lead in the 42nd minute of action as
Hanna Dino (Niagara Falls, Ontario/Saint Paul Catholic) had a chance at goal but was turned away.
In the second half of play, Saint Michael's pushed their lead to three in the 59th minute. The Saints tried to get one back as
Eleonora Cecchini (San Marino, Fiorentino/Italy/Liceo delle Scienze Umane) had a good look at the net in the 62nd minute but the Purple Knights keeper denied the opportunity. DYU's last chance to get on the board came in the 89th minute as
Lily Gallagher (Jupiter, Fla./Dwyer) had a look but was turned away.
Haley Pompeo (Eden, N.Y./Eden) went the distance in goal, making a career-high 11 saves in the contest.
The Saints will close out the regular season this Saturday, November 2nd, as they take the short ride to Daemen University for an 11 a.m. kick.
