AMHERST, N.Y. – Going crosstown to close out the regular season, the D'Youville University women's soccer team fell to Daemen University by a score of 2-0 Saturday afternoon.
The Saints (1-12-2, 1-6-0 ECC) had opportunities to score with
Melia La (Essex, England) leading the way with two shots on net.
In the early goings of the competition,
Lovisa Nilsson (Bromma, Sweden/Bromma Gymnasium) had the teams first look on net but was turned away. Eight minutes later, the Wildcats scored their first goal in the 26th minute. In the waning minutes of the first half,
Lily Gallagher (Jupiter, Fla./Dewey) had a look but was denied.
In the second half, La had a look in the 57th minute but the attempt was smothered by the Daemen keeper.
Jillian Bernas (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) had a look in the 63rd minute but was denied. The Wildcats scored their second goal of the game in the 71st minute to put the game away.
Haley Pompeo (Eden, N.Y./Eden) went the distance in net, making eight saves on the day.
