Saints Sweep Lock Haven in Non-Conference Matchup

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The D'Youville University Volleyball Team was victorious on Saturday evening with a 3-0 sweep of Lock Haven University at home.

Set One
Gameplay started even in the first set with Lock Haven leading 10-9. The Saints put together a seven-point run including kills from Cameron Ulinski (Parkland, FL / Marjory Stoneman Douglas) and Alex Darby (Huntington, WV / Spring Valley) and a service ace from Samantha Killane (Vero Beach, FL / Lincoln Park Academy) to take the 16-10 lead. The Bald Eagles got two back, but the Saints put together a nine-point run to take the first set 25-13.

Set Two
Lock Haven took the early 9-7 lead in set two, but the Saints worked their way back until a Lock Haven error and a service ace from Killane put the Saints on top 17-15. The Saints put together another impressive six-point run featuring kills from Alex Darby and Cameron Ulinksi to extend their lead to 23-16 and would go on to win set two 25-19.

Set Three
The Saints carried their momentum into the final set of the night jumping up 9-5 after kills from Madeline O'Brien (East Amherst, N.Y. / Clarence) and Mitha Hatwar (Columbus, OH / Olentangy Liberty) and a service ace from Giselle Ramirez (Miami, FL / School for Advanced Studies). DYU continued to climb until they led 21-18. Three errors from Lock Haven and a service ace from Ailanice Rodriguez (Arecibo, Puerto Rico / Colegio Nstra. Sra. Del Carmen) gave the Saints the 25-18 win in set three and the 3-0 match win.
