BUFFALO, N.Y. – In their senior day game, the D'Youville University women's soccer team fell to Goldey-Beacom College by a score of 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Dobson Field.
 
The Saints (1-10-1) had chances at net on multiple occasions with five shots on goal and a total of nine shots within the game. Melia La (Essex, England) had the most chances on net for DYU with two shots on goal.
 
La had an opportunity early in the fifth minute but was turned away. Laoise O'Haodha (Limerick, Ireland/Gaelcholaiste Luimnigh) was there for the rebound of La's missed shot but the ball was smothered by the Lightning keeper. D'Youville had an opportunity in the 45th minute before the break to take a 1-0 lead but Eleonora Cecchini's (San Marino. Fiorentino, Italy/Liceo delle Scienze Umane) shot was high.
 
GBU was able to get on the board in the 67th minute to take a 1-0 lead with just over 20 minutes to play. La tried the equalizer in the 68th minute but was once again turned away.
 
The offensive attack did not waver, as Hanna Dino (Niagara Falls, Ontario/Saint Paul Catholic) ripped a shot off in the 74th minute, but that one as well was turned away. D'Youville's last chance to tie the game up came in the 85th minute but was eaten up by the GBC keeper.
 
Katie Liljenquist (Salt Lake City, Utah) went the distance in net, making six saves on the day.
 
The Saints will close out the season with a pair of road games, first starting with a game at Saint Michael's College on Tuesday, October 29th with a 3 p.m. start time.
