STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Heading downstate for another East Coast Conference matchup, the D'Youville University women's soccer team came away with a 2-1 win over the College of Staten Island Saturday afternoon.
The Saints (1-8-2, 1-4-0 ECC) were led offensive by
Lily Gallagher (Jupiter, Fla./Dwyer) with one goal and one assist with
Melia La (Essex, England) adding a goal and
Lovisa Nisson (Bromma, Sweden/Bromma Gymnasium) adding an assist.
DYU got the scoring started early in the contest and Gallagher scored in the sixth minute off the assist from Nilsson. The Dolphins scored in the 37th minute to tie things up at 1-1.
In the second half of action, La scored the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute off the dish from Gallagher to break the tie.
Katie Liljenquist (Salt Lake City, Utah) went the distance in net, making one save on the day.
The Saints will return home this Wednesday, October 23rd, when they host Roberts Wesleyan University at 4:30 p.m.
