ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - The D'Youville University Women's Volleyball Team began their ECC Conference play with a 3-0 loss to Molloy University.
D'Youville University 0 at Molloy University – (21-25, 22-25, 18-25)
First Set
Matchplay started even, but Molloy took the early lead. The Saints brought the score within one at 13-14 after two service aces from
Emma Wlostowski (Alden, N.Y./ Alden).
The Lions jumped ahead again, but the Saints tied the set at 19 and a service ace from
Isabelle Prentice (Bainbridge, Wash./ Bainbridge)
put the Saints ahead by one. The Lions came right back and took the first set 25-21.
Second Set
The Saints took the early lead in set two, jumping out to a 3-1 lead courtesy of kills from
Mitha Hatwar (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) and Giselle Ramirez (Miami, Fla./School for Advanced Studies)
. DYU continued to hold their lead at 12-9 after a kill from
Madeline O'Brien (East Amherst, N.Y.).
The Lions had a run of their own and took back the lead, going on to win the second set 25-22.
Third Set
The Saints fought hard in the third set, but after falling behind early could not catch up to the Lions. Eve Musielak (Eden, N.Y./Eden) had the Saints final kill of the day to keep them alive, but DYU would fall 25-18 in the third set and 3-0 in the match.
