SPARKILL, NY – The D'Youville University softball team lost a pitcher's duel to St. Thomas Aquinas College in game one, 1-0, before Sarah Parzych threw a complete game one-hitter to help the Saints prevail 1-0 in game two. 

Game One: STAC 1, DYU 0 

• STAC threatened to score first in the third after a 2-out triple down the right field line, but Lauren Booth would get a Spartan to groundout to third to keep the game scoreless. 

• STAC once again had runners in scoring position, at second and third, with two outs in the fourth but this time a groundout to short got DYU out of a jam. 

• Both teams went down in order the next two innings as the game headed to the seventh, 0-0. 

• DYU went 1-2-3 in the top of the frame while STAC led off the bottom half with a double. 

• A sacrifice bunt moved the winning run to third before the Spartans used another bunt to walk it off, 1-0. 

Inside the Numbers: 

• Booth took the tough luck loss: (4-6) 6 IP, 5 H, ER, 2 BB, 4 Ks 

• Gianna Adamo: 1-3 

Game Two: DYU 1, STAC 0 

• In the fourth, STAC drew a one-out walk and eventually got that runner to third after a wild pitch, but Parzych struck out the next Spartans batter before a flyout kept the game at scoreless heading to the fifth. 

• Back-to-back singles by Mikayla Bush and Tatiana Boyd began the DYU sixth before a fielder's choice advanced the runners to second and third with one out. 

• Bardeen stepped in next and ripped a triple to right that scored pinch runner Sophia Arno before Jamie Bower was thrown out at home, Saints 1-0. 

• That was all the run support Parzych needed as she sat the Spartans down in order in both the sixth and seventh innings to seal the 1-0 victory.

• Bardeen: 2-3, 3B, RBI 

The Saints play two more tomorrow in the NYC area when they head to Mercy College for a noon first pitch.
