Box Score 2 BUFFALO, NY – The D'Youville University softball team held the Queens College Knights to just five hits on the day in a senior day doubleheader shutout sweep, 1-0 and 5-0, on Sunday afternoon.
Before the games, the softball program took a few moments to honor the two members of its' 2023 senior class, Jamie Bower and Hannah Bardeen.
Game One: DYU 1, QC 0
- Emily Przybysz led off the second with an infield single before stealing second and advancing to third on the overthrow into the outfield.
- After a DYU strikeout, an Olivia Goderis safety squeeze scored Przybysz to put the Saints up 1-0.
- Lauren Booth fanned a Knights' hitter with first and second and two outs in the fourth to protect the 1-0 lead.
- DYU tried to add an insurance run in the sixth but a fly out with a runner on second and two outs sent the game to the seventh, 1-0 DYU.
- A QC leadoff walk and sacrifice bunt put the tying run on second with one out.
- The next batter laced a single to center to put runners on the corners, leading to a DYU pitching change.
- Cassie Crerar came on in relief and walked her first hitter to load the bases, but the following hitter tapped a grounder back to the circle, allowing her to get the out at home.
- With two outs, the next Knight hit one to short and Goderis took the easy out at third as Crerar earned her first save of the season.

Game Two: DYU 5, QC 0
- The Saints set the table early as a Bardeen hit by pitch was followed by Laura Beck and Gianna Adamo singles to load the bases with no outs.
- After a DYU pop out, Goderis walked to bring home the Saints' first run before Przybysz followed with an infield single to score Beck.
- QC retired the next two DYU hitters to leave the bases full and limit the damage to just two, DYU 2-0.
- The Saints loaded the bases again in the second with one out after singles by Bower, Beck, and Adamo before Adamo crossed home on a wild pitch to extend the advantage to 3-0.
- QC mustered just three hits in the first six innings before Beck's 2-out RBI double down the left field line in the bottom of the frame brought pinch runner Ally Beardi home, DYU 4-0.
- Beck later scored herself on another Knights' wild pitch to give the Saints some breathing room at 5-0 heading to the seventh.
- Sarah Parzych retired QC in order in the seventh to earn the complete game win.
